Break time during work should be considered as part of the total working hours, in order to achieve a better work/life balance. Many studies have shown the benefits of a shorter working day for both the employee in terms of an improved work-life balance (hence less stress) and for the employer in terms of better productivity (less stress equals increased productivity). A good break is necessary to continue working a whole day, therefore this should be paid and part of the 8 hour working day.
