If you restore pavements then it would not be so difficuilt to walk from one place to another making it more appealing to use public transport or not park right at the destination thus solving traffic and parking problems. The state of our pavements is abysmal and it is about time that someone fixes the situation once and for all!
Pavements on this island do not give the pedestrian any priority. The car and the garage come first. They tilt and bank up and down to accommodate garage entrances, besides being very narrow and rregularly surfaced. Pushing a pram, using a wheel chair or an electric powered invalid vehicle necessities one to use the street. This is made dangerous by illegal ramps, parked cars (including on the pavement itself). The whole system forces one to use the car.
